Remains to be Seen [1953] [DVD]

June Allyson (actor)
Van Johnson (actor)
Format: all-region dvd (worldwide)
Runtime: 85 min
Quality: Excellent (TCM)

Van Johnson, drum-playing manager of a Park Avenue block, finds a wealthy tenant mysteriously dead in his apartment. His discovery leads to romance with the corpse's niece, band-singer June Allyson, en route to which the pair outwit the evil, scheming Angela Lansbury.

Despite a pretty silly, unconvincing plot, this romantic comedy mystery moves along good-naturedly and comes to life with Van and June duetting a couple of lively numbers and Dorothy Dandridge (as herself) singing Taking a Chance on Love.
