Foxfire [1955] [DVD]

In this soppy concoction, Jeff Chandler plays a mixed-race Apache, a mining engineer digging for gold in Arizona, who settles down to married bliss with… Jane Russell? Yes, it's love across the cultural divide, but despite the improbability of the match, it carries on without batting an eyelid.

The trade magazine Variety apparently described Chandler (variously) as “churlish”, “surly”, and generally a bit of a heel. On the other hand, he did sing the theme song, which was co-written with Mr Pink Panther himself, Henry Mancini.
