Dinosaurus! [1960] [DVD]

After undersea explosions near a Caribbean island, prehistoric creatures are unleashed on the unsuspecting population. Freed from his watery tomb is a very friendly Neanderthal man who befriends a local orphan boy but they have to contend with an irritated dinosaur.

Jurassic Park this is not! A caveman, a friendly apatosaurus and a nasty Tyrannosaurus are disturbed from their slumber on a tropical island by construction workers in one of the funniest - unintentionally - monster movies ever made.

Best described as a prehistoric take on the Three Stooges' brand of comedy (see the Neanderthal man have "comical" problems with modern appliances; see the T-Rex fight a steam shovel), this will be loved by youngsters, while adults will shake their heads in dismay at the cheap mindlessness of it all. Still, lousy special effects make it hilariously compulsive viewing.
