The
Illustrated Man (1969)
Synopsis: Despite Rod Steiger
inventing dialogue as he goes along, and the original author, Ray Bradbury,
being angered by the producers' refusal to let him in on filming, this fantasy
fable from director Jack Smight works surprisingly well.
Steiger is in
moody mode as an everyman whose futuristic adventures three of them here
are depicted in tattoos over a large part of his body. Claire Bloom,
then Steiger's real-life wife, shares the drama if not the star billing, which
Steiger deserved if only for the daily make-up routine four hours of
painful application.
Cast: Cast: Rod Steiger, Claire
Bloom, Robert Drivas, Don Dubbins Runtime: 88 min
