Victory at Entebbe (1976, TV, dvd)
Synopsis: In June 1976,
Palestinian and German terrorists hijacked an Air France airbus and flew to Idi
Amin's Uganda. After six days, an Israeli commando unit stormed the airport at
Entebbe, and freed all but one of the hostages, Dora Bloch, who was later
murdered in retribution. Within five months two lousy movies had been made of
this extraordinary event Raid on Entebbe and this one, both made for
American TV, but released in cinemas elsewhere.
Cutting between the
commando unit, the Israeli government and the situation in Uganda, the movie
reduces everything to the level of a daytime soap opera, but with an all-star
cast. Burt Lancaster plays Shimon Peres, Anthony Hopkins is Yitzhak Rabin,
Helen Hayes and Linda Blair are hostages, while Elizabeth Taylor and Kirk
Douglas play worried parents back home.
Cast: Kirk Douglas, Burt
