Two
Sisters From Boston (1946)(dvd)
Synopsis: Boston blue-blood
Kathryn Grayson works as the belle of a Bowery nightspot to finance her opera
studies. She conceals the fact from her family with the help of her initially
outraged younger sister June Allyson and her boss Jimmy Durante, and achieves
her ambitions.
From the team of producer Joe Pasternak and director
Henry Koster, who gave the world the Deanna Durbin movies, this period musical
comedy is a sort of Durbin-type vehicle for grown-ups. Sometimes very funny,
and with some cute touches - along with famous tenor Lauritz Melchior strutting
his stuff, and a very young and pretty Peter Lawford contributing to the
romance - it's a charming dose of heavenly nonsense.
Cast:
Kathryn Grayson, June Allyson Runtime: 112 min
