Synopsis: Trimmed to feature length from an acclaimed mini-series, this account of the life and crimes of John Wayne Gacy is a chilling showcase for the undervalued talents of Brian Dennehy. As the sadistic serial killer who murdered more than 30 young men, yet maintained a façade of respectablity within his unsuspecting community, Dennehy dominates the screen.

At times the film risks overbalancing into grotesque pantomime, but it is saved by the tenacious performance of Michael Riley as the police detective who painstakingly compiled the case against Gacy.

It's staged by director Eric Till without undue sensationalism, but it's still not for the squeamish.
