Three on a Match (1932)

Synopsis: The bizarre title to this tale, later remade as the much less obtuse Broadway Musketeers, hides a very intelligent little movie about friendships and new rivalries. A suspenseful atmosphere pervades throughout, and director Mervyn LeRoy makes good use of external locations to create his theme of encroaching tragedy.

Watch out for Humphrey Bogart, not yet a superstar, in a cast that plays a well honed script to the hilt. Not a masterpiece, but well worth the effort.
