They
All Kissed the Bride (1942) Available on all-region DVD
Synopsis: An unexceptional
and rather long-winded Joan Crawford comedy no, she isn't the bride,
that's kid sister Helen Parrish in which she spends much of the time
arguing with, and ultimately romancing, reporter Melvyn Douglas.
Crawford copes well enough with her bossy-boots role, but her character
isn't likeable, and as a result the film isn't very watchable, despite sterling
support from the likes of Roland Young and Billie Burke. Director Alexander
Hall does what he can, but this is no Philadelphia Story, to which it rather
obviously aspires.
