The Mark Of Zorro (1974)(dvd)

Synopsis: Johnston McCulley's comic-strip hero has enthralled a new generation of film-goers since Antonio Banderas stepped into the role in 1998's The Mask of Zorro. This TV movie is the third film to bear the title The Mark of Zorro, but it pales beside the 1920 silent version starring Douglas Fairbanks and the 1940 remake with Tyrone Power.

Nevertheless, Frank Langella parries and thrusts to good effect as the masked avenger, Ricardo Montalban is great fun to watch as his adversary, and veterans Gilbert Roland and Yvonne De Carlo ham it up a treat. Sadly, a young Anne Archer does little but look demure.
