It Cool (1962)(dvd)
Synopsis: A wonderfully
nostalgic pre-Beatles teen fest, starring Britain's answer to Elvis, Billy
Fury, in a genuine pop musical, as the Liverpool rocker who stops Anna Palk
from straying off the straight and narrow, as if the plot matters. It's a real
period artefact, with guest appearances from the likes of Bobby Vee, and a
batch of splendid English veterans such as Dennis Price and Richard Wattis
along for the ride.
It isn't any good, really, but at least it's fun
and moves along briskly enough. The film's director, Michael Winner, was
considered quite promising then, but today this could be regarded as one of his
better pictures.
Cast: Billy Fury, Bobby Vee. Runtime:
78 min
