Perfect Friday (1970, TV)
Synopsis: This sprightly
crime caper a sort of Lavender Hill Mob with sex appeal is hardly
the kind of material normally associated with its director, Peter Hall. Stanley
Baker stars as the timid banker who teams up with aristocratic wastrel David
Warner and his bored wife Ursula Andress for a meticulously planned raid on his
own bank.
The raid never completely enthrals us, which is as much down
to the script as Hall's discomfort with the genre, for, while the scam is
smoothly staged, the moments of suspense seem contrived and the finale smacks
slightly of desperation.
