Synopsis: Puerto Rican-born
José Ferrer is the star of this Colombian kidpic, which proves that the
Children's Film Foundation didn't have exclusive rights to the crime adventure
in which eager kids lock horns with pantomimic villains. Combining Dickensian
melodrama with a somewhat romanticised view of urban street poverty, Robert
Vincent O'Neil's film will seem old-fashioned to modern youngsters, in spite of
a willing performance from Panchito Gómez, as the orphan who is forced
to leave the family farm and head for the big city, where he discovers that his
uncle is the Fagin-like brains behind a juvenile jewellery
racket.
