On
The Fiddle (1961)
Synopsis: Sean Connery was
only a year away from becoming an international superstar in Dr No when he took
the role of dim-witted gypsy Pedlar Pascoe in this comedy. The soon-to-be James
Bond is forced to play second fiddle, as it were, to Alfred Lynch, who stars as
a conman inducted into the army.
Adapted from the RF Delderfield novel
Stop at a Winner, and known in the States as Operation Snafu, this was
presumably meant to be a minor variation on the Bilko
theme.
