Norman... Is That You? (1976)

Synopsis: Veteran black comedian Redd Foxx became a huge TV star via the sitcom Sandford and Son (based on the UK's Steptoe and Son) and made this movie while still on the show. Foxx plays Ben Chambers who, after discovering his wife's infidelity with his own brother, travels to LA to share his troubles with his son, Norman (Michael Warren).

Upon arrival, he discovers his son's live-in male lover and vows to straighten his boy out. Although pleasingly acerbic in places, the film is unable to shake off its theatrical origins and, like many cutting-edge comedies of the time, now feels simplistic and occasionally offensive.
