Dangerous When Wet (1953)

Synopsis: An utterly meaningless (but smart) title for one of Esther Williams's most amiable musical comedies, in which she and her whole health-nut family are persuaded to swim the English Channel. There's a super live/animated sequence featuring Tom and Jerry, and a marvellous moment when the film stops for a number by Barbara Whiting, playing Esther's peppy younger sister.

MGM's England is a sight to behold, almost as fetching as Esther herself, who married her leading man in this movie in reality, and became Mrs Fernando Lamas. Watch those titles closely: the fish swim in front of the captions!
