Cry Wolf (1947)(dvd)

Synopsis: Screen icons Barbara Stanwyck and Errol Flynn were both past their box-office prime when they teamed up for this dour Warner Bros drama. When her husband kicks the bucket, Stanwyck returns to the old estate to find Flynn up to no good in the west wing.

All very Charlotte Brontë, and very little fun thanks to Peter Godfrey's turgid direction. There's always pleasure to be gained from watching real movie stars go through their paces, but this Old Dark House tale is worthy of neither.
