Criss Cross (1949)(dvd)

Synopsis: This classic film noir reunites Burt Lancaster with Robert Siodmak, who directed The Killers, and the alluring Yvonne De Carlo, his co-star in Brute Force. Lancaster plays a decent armoured car guard who starts courting his ex-wife, De Carlo, now engaged to rich mafioso Dan Duryea. Lancaster is trapped into robbing his own firm, leading to much double-crossing and murder.

Having all the noir trappings one needs — fateful flashbacks, a drab urban setting, doom-laden Miklos Rozsa music, moody camerawork — this also contains a lot of sexual energy, a thrillingly shot robbery and Tony Curtis, making a brief appearance as a pretty gigolo who dances with De Carlo.
