In this tense drama, vulnerable widow Ida Lupino hires craggy handyman Robert Ryan to help her prepare for Christmas, only to discover that he's a psychopath.

Director Harry Horner creates such a claustrophobic atmosphere of pervasive nastiness that this film (produced by Lupino's second husband, Collier Young) was rightly given an X certificate for its cinema release in Britain. Much disliked by the critics of the day, this is tough stuff indeed.
