A Rage To Live [1965] [DVD]

Rich young nymphomaniac Suzanne Pleshette goes through a succession of men, beginning with her brother's best friend, and progressing through a hotel employee to a desperate marriage until infidelity (with Ben Gazzara) takes over and her husband Bradford Dillman leaves her. This superficial, watered-down account of John O'Hara's bestselling novel is rendered even more uninteresting by the casting of the inadequate Pleshette, when the movie screams out for a Stanwyck, a Hayward or a Joanne Woodward. Walter Grauman's dreary direction doesn't help either.

The heiress to a newspaper fortune is also a nymphomaniac, a fact her horrified family are desperate to cover up. When she meets a kindly farmer, she decides to make a fresh start and agrees to marry him, but finds it impossible to control her desire for other men.
